First launched in 2020, Altralife is now one of the UK’s leading Total Diet Replacement (TDR) products and is recommended by healthcare professionals as part of the NHS’ Type 2 Diabetes programme to assist with weight loss and improve overall health. This success didn’t happen overnight of course, and the need for a bespoke, flexible and crucially, scalable logistics solution to fit the changing needs of Nualtra’s business and customer base was clear from the outset.
The challenges facing a logistics provider of any size when attempting to expand their operation are many, from keeping up with the speed of fulfilment, to maintaining the same level of consistency and accuracy as well as communicating issues and changes effectively to ensure full transparency of the service.

Business growth requires customized logistics
When Nualtra first launched Altralife, Life Couriers had already established a proven track-record of reliability as their logistics partner for over 4 years. So when the Altralife brand began to grow, Nualtra needed a provider who could meet the demands of their business.
Nualtra’s scaling of the brand happened quickly and is still ongoing, necessitating a resilient and flexible logistics network to hold pace with order numbers and remain agile to operational changes down the line.
Life Couriers’ service has proved to be anything but an out-of-the-box solution, but rather a customizable resource that has accompanied Altralife’s ongoing success as it continues to grow.
Overcoming obstacles, delivering growth
Altralife’s expansion as an in-demand health product meant a dramatic increase in monthly orders: by 2022, Altralife had been selected for 80% of the NHS’s Type 2 Diabetes programmes, and this has continued to grow since then.

Fulfilment of Altralife orders began in our depot in Segensworth, Hampshire, where we provided kit-building and fulfilment of the components that made up starter packs for a range of Nualtra’s products. However, when the time came to relocate this depot to nearby Gosport in 2023, this presented the challenge of maintaining high standards set in previous years whilst also navigating the difficulties of transferring an entire workforce and depot infrastructure.
The strategic move to the depot in Gosport enabled us to consolidate certain aspects of our warehousing framework, creating a more streamlined environment for our team and allowing for better organization of stock and packing stations. Accompanying this move were a number of upgrades to equipment and facilities, as well as hiring additional staff to meet the demands of orders. With order numbers increasing by impressive degrees year on year, maintaining the highest standards of service and accuracy of picks and order fulfilment was our top priority and this goal was achieved by focusing on our team, in conjunction with improvements and upgrades made to our facilities.
Investment into the warehouse infrastructure, including the purchase of a new barcode scanner system, ensured that products could be scanned and processed quicker; this more dependable system in turn strengthened our logistics chain. Alongside hiring more personnel, Life Couriers allocated additional resources to staff training as well as updating its QMS, furthering the organization’s commitment to excellence.
As seen in the graph above, from 2023-24, Altralife saw a 78% increase in orders per-month, followed by an additional 45% growth the following year. Now in 2025, the demand for consistency has never been higher. Our award-winning team is more than capable and well-equipped to keep our standards high, and we continue to optimize our network to provide staff with the tools to succeed.
Trust and transparency: the backbone of a logistics partnership
While consistent results and good communication help to build trust, nothing beats full transparency and accountability.
Our bespoke customer portal allows Nualtra to monitor their stock levels in real time and see live updates on their products and orders, meaning that they can react to the demands of their customers and the patients who use their products.
In addition, our system allows the customization of minimum stock levels, alerting the operations team if a particular product is low in stock so that they can replenish inventory levels.
